…A Single Step
So, here I am beginning this blog. I’m here documenting my journey toward a more intentional life. I’m questioning things that society tells us to do. And I’m striving for a life that is truly unique, truly my own. I want to consciously choose as much as I can instead of sleepwalking through life. I don’t want to merely accept the aspirations that others tell me. What if I don’t want a house with a white picket fence in the suburbs? What if I don’t want 2.5 kids? What if I don’t want a BMW or any of that crap?
Recently I graduated from ASU with a masters degree. There are no jobs to be found these days. That’s honestly okay with me. Last summer I had a horrible office job. It was mind-numbingly boring and everyday I violated my own personal values. I decided then that I didn’t want to have a 9-5 job anymore. Right now I’m trying to find my own way of earning income. I’m learning how to set up affiliate websites to generate income. I’ve made a few sales, but not enough to support myself and my girlfriend yet. I’m learning the ropes as I go.
So that’s where I am now. I suspect that the scope of this blog will begin to expand as time goes on, for right now though, I’m a little single-minded in finding a source of income.
Welcome, and I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me.

@Zenji, Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, affiliate marketing can be an exciting thing to get into. It takes some work if you are strapped for cash like me, but it can come together a lot faster if you have some money to play with. Good luck!
PS: I’ve heard New Zealand is beautiful. I’d definitely love to see it someday!

I was on the Affilorama forum and I saw one of your posts and I clicked on your link that took me here. I am in a similar situation, I was fired from my sales job. I am not a salesman (PC Tech) and they wanted a used car salesman. I hated the job and now I am trying to learn as much as I can on Internet marketing so I can make a life and not just a living.
I have a blog that I started back in 08′ but never really spent the time on it. I only had a couple of articles on it. So after loosing my job I got the Idea to write an E-book about meditating as personal development is my niche. I found this ebook called how to make your first 50k. It discussed creating an ebook and adding links to products to sell in it and giving the ebook away for free as a way of promoting (viral marketing) the products. I thought this was a great Idea and I decided that is what I would do.
I had the Idea of creating a vlog of my experience. Right now I am working on my ebook and trying to get more content created for my blog. Writing is tough for me and I am having a hard time with it. I am broke so I cant outsource anything right now. Well this post is getting way too long. If you don’t mind taking a look at my blog and telling me what you think I would appreciate it.
Good luck and may the Force be with you

@Ty, Yeah, the economy really sucks and it’s screwed a lot of people over. But like your quote says, if you look hard enough at it, you can find incredible opportunity in such tragedies as getting laid off or not being able to find work. Personally, that is one of my favorite quotes.
Overall, your blog looks like it has some potential. It’s hosted on wordpress.com, so you might want to get your own domain name and transfer everything over there if you can afford it. If you leave it on wordpress.com, you are at the whims of their site and their terms of service. If you host it on your own domain you can do whatever you want without having to worry about wordpress.com deleting your blog for some reason.
Also, for each post you want to make sure you do your keyword research. I don’t know if you’ve done this or not, but make sure that each post targets one specific keyword. Most of your posts look good, but the first two about depression might be a bit too far from the topic of meditation, in my opinion. Ask yourself what your visitors would be looking for if they typed in a keyword phrase into Google. If someone types in “what is depression” for example, they are not necessarily looking for self-help or meditation information. Maybe they just got diagnosed as clinically depressed and they want to learn more. Maybe their friend or family member just got diagnosed. It’s tough to say.
The free e-book thing could be a good idea, but you’ve got to promote it well. Upload it to file sharing sites like Scribd. Maybe visit some meditation forums and link to your report in your user signature. If the report is very high quality, it will start to spread virally once a few people check it out and start sharing it with others.
I hope this helps.
