Getting in Shape – Week 2 (A Little Late – Oops)

So, I’m running every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Then I do simple exercises like push-ups or sit-ups on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I miss the days of when I had a gym membership, but I need to operate on a tight budget (after all I only make about $1000 per month after paying my worker).

Anyway, things are going pretty well.  I made it a little bit farther than I did last week and I started running up some hills, which are incredibly difficult for me.

Total distance: 1.5 miles +/-

My girlfriend and I have also started the Body for Life program after some friends of ours have had some pretty incredible success with it over the past 6 weeks or so.  I checked out the Eating for Life cookbook at the library this week and now I’m eating every 3 hours or so.

So far it’s pretty easy.  Eat 6 small meals with one “fist” of carbs and one “palm” of protein.  Also, no sugar allowed.  I think that’s the basics of it.

This is going pretty easy, though it is difficult to get myself out of bed in the morning to workout sometimes.

I visited my mom in the suburbs last weekend and I took the opportunity to use her scale.  My starting weight is 145 (about 65 kg for those not in the States).  Again, I’m not trying to lose weight.  I just want to get in shape, but I think it’s a good idea to keep track of stuff like this.

Hey Clayton! Keep up the good work with your Body For Life challenge. I’m planning to pick up a copy of Eating For Life from the library too. I got to pick up a few more new recipes as I’m getting sick of eating chicken breast for a weeks straight.

    Cheers,
    Vincent

@Vincent, Hey man! Actually I haven’t tried out too many of the recipes from the book yet. My kitchen isn’t exactly… um… “modern,” so mixing complex things isn’t exactly the easiest thing. I would get a blender, but I’m trying to save money and minimize my number of possessions these days.

Keep it up! I am definitely checking out the cookbook. I hope its like idiot proof because food is the weak link in my fitness plan.

Dude, you are doing awesome stuff with your IM gig! Although I havent been commenting as much, I have certainly been following your fantastic progress.

@Su, Thanks. The cookbook is pretty good. In a normal day I’ll eat things like toast, sausage, salad, yogurt, cheese, pasta, and this really cool creme pie my girlfriend and I found in the cookbook. I don’t know if this works or not, but if it does it’s got to be the easiest way to lose weight.

I’ve got my fingers crossed that my income will increase soon. I need to pay off some debt :)
