Hi Clayton,
Did you monetize your links? – i.e. do you get affiliate commissions if someone uses it. Check out how this guy did it – http://www.affilorama.com/forum/affiloblueprint-members-f31/affiloblueprint-success-stories-t4689-s105.html
Check the top of page entry.
Good going with the income.

@Harry, Right now, I’m not putting affiliate links on this blog for Affilorama or anything. There are two reasons for this:
1. Most of the people that read this blog right now are Affilorama members and already use all the tools that I use.
2. I’m right down there in the trenches with you guys right now. I set this blog up to meet people and help answer a lot of the newbie questions I first had when I was getting started like “how long will this take?” or “is anyone really making money with this?” In some way I’d feel like I was just knifing all my Affilorama brothers and sisters in the back if my blog was filled with affiliate links.
That being said, after I finish doing this for a full year, I am thinking of possibly putting together some kind of bonus and promoting AffilorBlueprint as an affiliate. I guess I just want to prove to myself and everyone else that this really does work before I go around trying to sell it to other people.

Hi there!
I was looking for someone who really has made some money with affiliate marketing, and found your site. Thumbs up for starting this site! I too am a complete newbie, and need to make money online. Do you use Affiloblueprint and do you think if I put in around 3 hours of work a day, I would be able to atleast cover the cost of affiloblueprint? Thanks for helping!
April 14th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
@Pradeep, Thanks for stopping by my blog. AffiloBlueprint is a great course. It is really the cornerstone of everything that I’m doing to make money online right now. I can’t remember how much it costs (something like $200, I think) and I’ve made about $2000 using it for the past 7 months. It’s definitely worth the investment.
The course is structured to take 12 weeks to complete because Mark Ling assumes that most people have some kind of job or family commitments that will prevent them from working full-time on this stuff. I did the whole course in about 3 weeks the first time. I think 3 hours a day should be more than enough time to get your first site set up and getting good traffic in about 5 or 6 weeks. Of course, each website will earn money at a different rate depending on the niche and the keywords and all that, so I can’t predict how long it will take to earn the money back.
If you’re thinking about getting it, I’d recommend going for it. Really follow through on it and do everything it tells you to and you should be making money before you know it.

Hey Clayton,
Just to check with you whether do you use The Best Spinner as I saw from one of your posts that you did use it to spin your articles but I don’t see it here.
Cheers
Javier

@Javier, yeah, I use The Best Spinner. I guess I just forgot to list it here. Matt Carter just put out something called Rapid Rewriter, though. It looks a little bit better than The Best Spinner, so unless you already have The Best Spinner, I’d check out Rapid Rewriter.
May 10th, 2010 at 9:10 pm
@Clayton, I have not used the best spinner yet and the rapid rewriter do look similar but in your opinion which one is better?
May 11th, 2010 at 10:47 am
@Javier, If I didn’t already have The Best Spinner, I would get Rapid Rewriter, because:
1.) It works on a Mac platform (I have a Mac, and it’s a pain to switch over to Windows to spin)
2.) It automatically submits to 5 article directories (not much, but it’s 5 more than The Best Spinner)
3.) It has the options to sometimes use a sentence, and sometimes leave it out entirely (which TBS can’t do)
Don’t get me wrong. The Best Spinner is good, but Rapid Rewriter looks a little bit better. Not enough for me to actually go out and get it, but still it’s a little bit better.

@Clayton, one of the things I like about the best spinner is their other people favourite synonyms which Rapid Rewriter don’t have. I just bought the best spinner and so far my articles got approved on Ezines but just don’t know why it don’t work at my job workplace pc. Lucky they have 30 days trial period for me to play with it fully at my own laptop.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
@Javier, Yeah, I guess I forgot about that feature. That IS nice. I don’t really know why it wouldn’t work on your work computer… Maybe some sort of firewall / internet security setting from your IT manager? Be careful, though. You don’t want your boss catching you spinning articles at work

Hi Clayton,
Just an idea, maybe you could include which web design software and tools you use, as well as any other internet services such as stock photography sites.
Also, I personally don’t think that there is anything unethical about using affiliate links providing you only list services that you actually use and truly recommend. Nobody will be charged extra for using your link, and the trickle of money you may get as a result could be used to improve your website.
I do see your point that by not using affiliate links you might build more credibility among the community. I personally think that the excellent quality of your posts as well as your growing success will give you all the credibility that you could ever need.
Take it easy mate and best of luck

@Rodderz, Thanks. I might try the IM niche down the road, but for right now I’m not touching that hairy beast.
I’ll update my list in the morning (it’s getting kind of late over here in Seattle), but I basically just use WordPress (free) for site design. I use PhotoShop for headers and other images (kind of pricey, but I used to be in the design world and I already had a copy of PhotoShop). I haven’t tried it, but Paint.net is supposed to be a good free alternative. And I get most of my images from sxc.hu (also free–I guess this makes me a cheapskate?).
PS: I saw you went to Malaysia. Sounds like a great place! I want to go to Thailand this autumn, but all the political stuff might make me put that on hold unless it gets resolved soon. Maybe Argentina or Peru would be a good Plan B. I think they have a similar cost of living to Thailand.

Hi Clayton,
Malaysia was amazing, especially Sabah on the island of Borneo. I was living off money saved from my last job rather than internet income (newbie alert), but the trip proved to me how easy it is to work on the road. All you need is a region with cheap living, fast internet, and a host of activities that interest you.
Personally I would still go to Thailand if that is your first choice. I understand that even at its height, the skirmishes were restricted to a few areas of Bangkok. Having said that the world is a big place, and many countries now fit the bill for remote workers. It might be worth heading to the local library and browsing some travel guides to check cost of living as well as activities etc. Also definitely check the weather and take advantage of our two hemispheres.
Good luck on your remote working adventure mate

@Rodderz, I’m glad to hear you had an easy time working and traveling at the same time. I hope I can muster up that kind of focus. Even if it’s just for 2 or 3 hours in the morning.
Anyway, my girlfriend and I are weighing some “Plan B” options. I know a little bit of Spanish, so it might be somewhere in Central or South America. That way I don’t need to learn Thai and some other “Mystery Language X” at the same time in case things get nasty in Thailand again.

Hello Clayton,
I was very impressed with the openness that you approach your IM income. Most people on Warrior Forum imply they are doing well , but you wonder if they are “faking it until they make it”? My question was about your toolkit. I see that you have a few affiliate products and wondered if your imcome was coming from affiliate sales of the tools themselves or actually using the tools to make money through selling things or other ways?
Thanks, k
Fred

@Fred, I don’t have any affiliate links on my site here. I’m not promoting any IM stuff as an affiliate. I guess I don’t really feel like I’m a “success” yet and I have no business telling people what works and what doesn’t. Plus, the majority of the people that visit this blog come from Affilorama and already use the same tools that I do (hence it’s kind of pointless to try to sell to them). All the money I make comes from non-IM niche sites.
I might try to enter the IM niche later, but for now I’m not going to try that.

Hey Clayton,
How much do you like Traffic Travis? I’m thinking about trying it out but I use a Mac so it will be somewhat of a pain switching between the two environments. Would you consider it the best rank checking tool out there?
Thanks man,
Tony
August 2nd, 2010 at 11:48 am
@Tony, I used to use Traffic Travis because that’s how Mark Ling shows you how to do everything. Honestly I don’t use it at all anymore. I use Market Samurai. Market Samurai runs on the Mac OS, which makes it much more convenient for me. I also like the MS keyword research tools better and the rank checker too. The only advantage to TT is that it will give you a star rating for how competitive a keyword is for SEO, which is good if you’re not used to reading the SEO competition matrix. I’m really lazy though and I don’t like switching over to the Windows OS so I just use MS for everything. MS costs some money, but I think you can get like a 70 day free trial if you get it from Ed Dale’s Challenge.co site.
