Adventures in Lifestyle Design from a Path Less Traveled
So tomorrow is the official 4-month anniversary for me working on these websites.
After a little thinking, I’ve decided to shelf the JFK “high tide raising all ships” approach and focus solely on doing a full SEO job on Website #4. Website #4 is probably the most efficient website I’ve made yet at pulling in money. This is due partly to the fact that it is targeting a very hungry niche (with a high conversion rate) and partly due to the fact that I’ve gotten better at building these things over time. My girlfriend is even helping me spin a few articles after she gets home from work, which is much appreciated.
Once this is done, Website #4 should be a lean, money-making machine that will keep the cash rolling in while I bring the other sites up to speed.
So, I’m also putting off finishing Website #5 for now. I guess I won’t finish it by the end of 2009. That’s fine with me.
Since last week, my fortune has improved again. Once I finished my pity party last week, I went and did some last minute Christmas shopping and came home to see that I picked up a sale. Follow that up with additional sales on nearly every day this week and suddenly I’m left with my jaw hanging open.
I’m not really sure where all this is coming from. None of the stats on my sites have really improved that much, but I’m very grateful and I hope this keeps up.
I hope everyone has a great holiday season. More updates to come in 2010!

I’m follwing your success from the Affilorama forum and I have to say that your posts on your AffiloBlueprint success keeps me motivated to continue building my own website.
Have you tried the Magic Article Rewriter and Submitter software? Following your journey, looks like it’s something that would make your life easier? I’m about to buy it, but not sure if it’s really as good as it looks like.
Anyway, keep up the good work. It’s really inspiring!
Slavenska
@Slavenska, thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m glad my modest success has helped inspire you. It makes me feel like I’m giving back in some way. When I was getting started some of the earlier posts on the “success story” thread by Steven Parker and “Jem008″ really kept me going. In fact, I’m a little embarrassed to write this, but I actually took one of Jem008′s clickbank screen shots and changed the dates in Photoshop to be the end of this year. I printed it out and looked at it almost every day trying imagine that that would be my clickbank sales report by year end. It looks like I probably won’t be getting results like that by the end of the year, but I’m proud of the small success I’ve had so far.
Good luck!
hi mate,
congratulations, those clickbank stats look awesome.I’ve just started affiliate marketing and I’d love to see similar results. Is there any chance I could have a look at your sites?
@emusic review, thanks for commenting on my blog. Good luck on starting your affiliate marketing journey. If I had one bit of advice, it’s that niche selection is absolutely critical. In the early days it’s easy to get down on yourself when results don’t show, so make things easy on yourself and pick a good niche. Make a site for people with real problems that stay up at night and lose sleep worrying about things. Your conversions will be a lot better and you won’t have to work as hard.
Sorry, I might change my mind later, but for the time being, I’m not disclosing any of my affiliate websites on this blog. They are basically straight and simple Affilorama sites though.
Hi Clayton,
I have been following your blog.
I wish you all the best, I think many wannabe marketers would have given up by now cursing their chosen “Make Money” product and its owner.
Seems like you have the drive and determination – its only a matter of time. I think I have learnt in life is that hard work always pays off.
Anyway welldone and keep up the good work.
@Abu, thanks for stopping by my blog. Yeah, there are plenty of times when I’ve just wanted to give up. Fortunately I have at least one person that believed in me every step of the way (my girlfriend), which is more than I can say for even my mom or my best friend.
Also, I’m kind of stranded right now. Even if I wanted to, there are no jobs in my profession these days, and my masters degree makes me the equivalent of “over educated” toxic waste to most employers.
Hi Clayton,
I’m glad to see your progress. I too am starting in affiliate marketing and am a little lost and looking at your posts give me more confident and encouragement to keep going.
I think my problem is that I have too much info on affiliate marketing from affilorama to many others……I need to consolidate and focus on just one or two methods and building sites up instead of going around in circle.
Keep up the good work and Happy New Year to you.
Huddson
@Huddson Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, it’s important when you’re first getting started to pick one system or strategy and stick to that. Jumping around and looking for a “get rich quick” method is exactly what will keep you from getting rich. Good luck.
