Website Building Update – Week 25

I built website #6 this week. I know it makes me a total nerd, but I’m really excited about this site! This is the first new site I’ve built since November. It’s almost exactly the same as website #4, so I expect it to start earning money in a few weeks. This will really help out a lot! I need the money…
It’s already ranking pretty well for a site that has pretty much no backlinks. I’m guessing that it has to do with the awesome domain name I got (a buying keyword, boo-ya!).
Someone wanted to know about my Clickbank analytics, so I’m posting the past four months of Clickbank data this week (I hope you can read this–I had to reduce the image to fit on my blog). The green line is the number of hop clicks I’ve gotten, and the bars are the number of order form impressions. And of course I post all the sales I get here every week.
I make on average, one sale per 91 hops. But lately, that’s been a lot worse (for some unknown reason) like one sale per 162 hops.
Here’s my sales report for this week. I seem to be on an every-other-day pattern. Three of these spikes are just re-bills. Only one real sale.

Hey man its Swarlley from the Affilorama forums. I get a lot of inspiration from this blog you’ve put up. I’m glad to see another fairly-new member doing well and making his way in this business.
Keep up the good work mate!
Best,
Chris

@Chris, Hey thanks for checking out my blog. Good luck with your site. Looks pretty good so far (though I must admit I don’t know a thing about WoW except that one of my friends is addicted to it…).

Hi Clayton,
May i ask what blog theme are you using? The one from AffiloBlueprint or one of those free ones out there?
And I’m about to select the article directory to subscribe to. I know AMA is Ok as you and others are using it. What about a couple others like Unique Article Wizard, Article Underground or Submit Your Article? Or even the Link Juicer?
Every time I google them there’re always a bunch of glorified reviews by other marketers and I could never find one to have a true review.
Would appreciate some real feedbacks on AMA and other comparable services out there.

@Huddson, Hey. For this blog, I’m using a theme called “virtual sightseeing” but I use the Affiloblueprint theme on my affiliate sites.
I use AMA. It takes time, and you have to submit a lot of articles to them, but it does work. About a month ago or so AMA was down a lot, which was really annoying, but they’ve been running pretty smoothly since then. I’ve heard great things about UAW, and I would try it out myself if I could afford it. I don’t know anything about the other three services you mentioned.
There’s also something called Free Traffic System (FTS), which as the name implies, is free. It is sort of like AMA except that each article is limited to 30 submissions while you’re on the free version. If you’re tight on money, start with FTS, but if you can spend a little go with AMA. If you can spend a lot, I’d go AMA and UAW.

LOL I wish I can spend a lot though…..
Part of the reason I wasn’t aggressive enough was because of low budget. Now I really need to get my butt going.
It comes down to UAW or AMA….oh well, i’ll decide later when I have at least 3-4 sites up to worth the money spent.
Thanks Clayton, Huddson

@Huddson, yeah, I wasn’t aggressive enough when I first started either. Since most article directories and AMA will let you put 3 links in your articles I figured I only needed to spin 10 of the 30 articles on my site for building backlinks. Big mistake. When you get to the point of spinning, do it for every single article on your site.

Why is that Clayton? If you’re allowed 3 anchor texts per article can’t you just link to 3 pages of your site per spun article within AMA?
Or are you saying every page/article on the site should have another version just for the purpose of spinning? That’s a lot of articles though…..and the time/cost too!!

@Huddson, yeah, just doing 1/3 of your articles will build backlinks to all of your pages, but if you spin ALL of your articles, you can get that many more backlinks. It’s just a matter of getting as many backlinks as you can to compete with all the sites on the front page of the search engines.
Currently, I’m trying to catch up and spin every article on all of my sites. It is extremely time consuming, but the net effect is more than worth it (at least I hope it is…). I contacted one of the guys in the Affilobluepint success story thread that’s doing much better than me, and he said that was his secret. Anyway, spinning can be a lot easier if you get something like The Best Spinner (thebestspinner.com). Before it took me like 3 hours to spin an article, now it takes me about 30 minutes. I think there’s something similar to it for free called Jet Spinner. I’ve never tried it myself, though.

So did you use thebestspinner to rewrite 2x more versions of each article on your sites for AMA?
Thanks for the “secret”. It’s so time consuming and costly(if outsourced) that’s why very few people do it…..

@Huddson, Yeah doing all my article spinning in Word really sucked! It was so boring and painful…
Honestly, I’m spinning the lazy way with The Best Spinner just so I can catch up with all my websites. Instead of rewriting each sentence 3 times and rewriting a word in each sentence 3 times (3×3 method) as Mark Ling recommends, I’m not rewriting the sentences, but I’m putting as many synonyms as possible for every word. So for example:
becomes:
When I do it this way, AMA usually says my articles are about 150% – 175% rewritten. When I did the 3×3 method, it would say my articles were like 250% rewritten. So I figure it’s probably good enough.
