Adventures in Lifestyle Design from a Path Less Traveled

Well, now I’ve done it! I bit the bullet and finally formed an LLC company for all my internet exploits. I must admit that the process was remarkably easy, though incredibly stressful emotionally. It is hard to believe that I am now a genuine business owner. Datsu-Sara Media LLC was officially formed on March 25, 2010.
I guess I can no longer tell people at cocktail parties that I am “unemployed.” I can now tell them that I am the owner of a company with a projected 2010 revenue of $6,000 (does this count as my first quarter report?). Good grief…
Speaking of being unemployed, I accidentally applied for a job with the US census. I was working at a coffee shop yesterday when this woman comes in and says that they’re doing a census test there and that I needed to leave. I was thinking of signing up anyway, so I asked her if I could just take the test right there. I could, and I did. It was pretty easy and I got 100% on it. I guess someone is supposed to call me in a few days to discuss the next step.
The whole time I was taking the test, I kept thinking about all the stuff I could outsource with the money I’d make with the census. I figure if I work for like a month, I’d make about $1500 after taxes. That’s enough to keep someone in the Philippines working full-time for 6 months.
Anyway, on to website stuff:
Unfortunately I think website #6 got sandboxed. SERP’s tanked really fast. I guess I’ll just have to wait this out. Oops…
I’m also starting a “slow growth” plan on my sites that actually are pulling in money. I’ll be basically adding one new page to each site every week (plus spinning and article marketing). I’m going to start with the “get your boyfriend back” and “weight loss” sites. I think I’ll do the “men’s dating tips” site too since I know a guy that’s making like $250 a week in the same niche (and yes, I am very jealous of him).
I’m being really picky about my keywords these days. I’m using the Niche Profit Classroom model as the first filter (just do a Google image search for “money word matrix”– I think it’s the 4th result). Then I pick out the buying keywords and then to a Traffic Travis SEO analysis check as a final quality check.
I’m pretty sure that this is what Jem008 did (read affiloblueprint success stories at affilorama), and I’ve really been keeping his success in mind to motivate me all this time.
Anyway, I almost had a $100 day this week. Pretty good week overall.

Clayton,
wow, you made quite a few sales here…nice work. Keep up the hard work.
cheers
zenji
@Zenji, Thanks, man. Yeah, I get a week or so like this every now and then. I’ve seen this enough to know not to get too excited about it anymore. Sales usually die down a bit afterward. I’m not sure why, but sales seem to roll in like waves. Sometimes they just seem to come quickly and close together; other times it’s all quiet and there’s not much activity.
Clayton,
You are doing fabulous! I’d recommend that you just stick to doing this full-time. Even if the Architecture business picks up.
I’m jealous of your success clayton! I have been having a bit of my own now though. My girl in the Philippines has been writing for me for nearly 1 1/2. When she isn’t doing keyword writing I have her writing on google hot trend topics for hub pages. I figure this might increase my ad sense earrings a bit as well as get me recognized in the hub page community! When you do decided to hire please drop me a line on Afilorama. I’d be more then happy to help you with any questions you have. It took me a while to figure out how to pick and choose employees. I hope I can be of help!
@Carl, Thanks for the encouragement! Personally, I don’t think it will be easy to get an architecture job for quite some time. Here in Seattle, a lot of the big offices have laid off 50-75% of their staff. There are literally thousands of unemployed people in the architecture field around here. I see maybe one job opening posted every week. With all those thousands of people applying for that one job, it is basically pointless to try, and it probably will be for quite some time until most of those people have found work again.
@Amanda, I’m glad you’re having some success too. Thanks for offering to help. I’ll be in touch via Affilorama pretty soon.
Hi Clayton,
You are doing great! I have been following your story after I saw your signature in Affiloblueprint forum.
I am going through the same thing myself and I am still not getting the results that I want yet. I’m gonna work hard for it and I look forward to reading more updates from you.
Cheers,
Vincent
@Vincent, Thanks for stopping by my blog. Are you the same Vincent with the “Affiloblueprint success journal” thread?
Don’t give up. You just need to keep at it. Things didn’t start to get good for me until I built my fourth AB site. I made some mistakes on my first 3 sites and now I’m paying for it (bad keywords, too competitive keywords, etc.).
Congratulations on Datsu-Sara Media LLC Clatyon. I know it ‘s really hard to keep going with this stuff but I’m sure you’ll get there. You’re doing better than me.
Getting everything organised in some sort of business with a dedicated bank account is definately the way to go, I think it makes life so much easier further on down the road.
A bit of instant offline income from time to time is a necessity for most of us i think. Its also nice to have a short break from article writing even for just a couple of weeks. Since starting online I have started to really appreciate the value of a weekly/monthly regular salary (even if I dont appreciate the nature of the work usually required to get it).
Highly targeted buyer keywords are where it is at for sure. Your keyword research methods are very similar to my own except I usually skip the NPC money word matrix bit and just dive in to traffic travis.
Your income is going great mate, keep at it.
@Keith, Thanks. Yes, I’m getting really weary of all this article spinning. I think I’m at the point where I really do need to hire someone…
@Rodderz, Thanks. Yeah, I think I either need to get a job to make some quick cash or move the Philippines where apparently I already make a full-time income…
Hi Clayton:
Nice work! I’m jealous of your progress. I had registered AB course few months ago, but nothing is happening yet. I’m just starting my second site. My first site is not working well. I guess there are a lot I need to learn and should really take action. Again, I really admire your success
Tony
@Tonyguitar, Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. Yeah, my first 3 sites honestly aren’t doing so hot. Most of my money is coming from my 4th site. When I first got AB, I just built one site and moved on the next to keep myself from obsessing over the first. I just kind of lucked out with the 4th site. Keep at it though, build lots of backlinks. Do a lot of article marketing and your SERPs will definitely get better.
Hi Clayton
About the Niche Profit Classroom model
You mentioned: “just do a Google image search for money word matrix”
I have seen this course and I think they actually use Google Basic Search for money word matrix.
Am I wrong or have they change the method?
@StrongFarmer, Yeah, you’re right. I was just giving instructions on how to find the money word matrix diagram. Sorry for the confusion.
Basically, you just want to pick keywords with a phrase match return of less than 50,000 results.
Congrats on the sales, I haven’t made any sales yet myself but it is my first site so i am still learning everything ,did you start your second site before you made your first sale or did you have some sales coming in first? And good luck finding a job you probably won’t need one in the futre , as Mark says in the course it is harder to make your first $300 a month then to go from $300 to several thousand so you are doing some things right for sure good job lets stay in touch Scott
@Scott, Thanks for stopping by my blog. No, I didn’t wait for my first site to start earning money before I moved onto the second. I have this way of nit-picking things, so in order to take my mind off of my first site, I started a second one, then a third one, and finally a fourth one.
Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I think I could easily keep going to make a thousand or two a month knowing what I know now. The only problem is that I’m so burnt out from 7 months of spinning articles I can barely get myself to type “~” anymore…
