Website Building Update – Week 8

About two months into this, I’m starting to see some progress. A lot of the pages on my first site are hanging out on page two or three in Google for their respective keywords. This is really exciting! Traffic is starting to pick up a little bit, and I hope sales do too!
This week has been a maintenance week for my websites. I’m done with the third site. Now I’m just taking some time to polish up all three before moving onto website number four. This essentially amounts to fixing typos, doing some on-page SEO, and otherwise taking care of some technical details to make them more lean, mean, and monetized.
I’ve been feeling better and much more optimistic this week. The steady advancement in the search engine rankings is a lot of encouragement. I’m not exactly sure how to explain it, but something shifted in my way of thinking sometime around Monday. All of the sudden it didn’t become about “Will this work?” it became about “I know this will work, but when?” In other words, I’m feeling much more confident about things!
I also watched the movie The Persuit of Happyness recently, which I found extremely relevant to my current situation, though I am thankfully not as bad off as Chris Gardener was in the movie. Maybe I’m just a motivational junkie, but I found that movie very comforting. It solidified my resolve and made me think that I can really do this.
It doesn’t matter how bad a hand life deals you, what matters is how you respond to it.
All it takes is some tenacity. Every time you experience a setback or get knocked down along the way, just get back up and keep at it.
Anyway, on to this week’s results: You’ll see one sale on my Click Bank sales report this week. Don’t get excited, that’s just a rebill for something I sold months ago when I was still direct linking through PPC.
It’s important not to get too caught up in whether or not you’ve made any money when you’re first getting started. Try to keep your goals small and simple. Aim for other things that are more in your control like: writing two articles today, building a website, writing a newsletter series, improving your rankings. Though these don’t result in the immediate gratification of money flowing into my Click Bank snapshot, they will eventually add up. Focusing on these small manageable goals is what keeps me going. Otherwise the starkness of all those $0 days would be enough to make me want to throw in the towel.
I really believe that something really good is about to come from all this work, and I’m stoked!

Still not that impressive
